In an impactful gesture, the Rainbow Trust Foundation has officially handed over the first phase of its “Books-To-Go” Library Project to the Headteacher and staff of Ningo Ahweam DA Basic School. The simple yet meaningful ceremony took place on the school’s grounds yesterday, marking another step forward in the Foundation’s mission to improve educational outcomes and quality of life for underserved communities.
The donation comprises:
- 2,000 brand new books from the UK
- 200 award-winning local content books by African authors
- 200 Books-To-Go branded book bags
This initiative aims to promote a strong reading culture among young learners while providing them with access to both global and culturally relevant literature. The provision of “Books-To-Go” bags ensures that students can carry their books home, extending learning beyond the classroom and fostering a lifelong love for reading.
The handover marks Phase 1 of a two-phase project. Phase 2 will see the construction and delivery of a 6-seater toilet facility and a borehole for the school, addressing the critical water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) needs of the student population.
Speaking at the event, representatives of Rainbow Trust Foundation emphasized the organization’s long-term commitment to supporting education, clean water, and sanitation infrastructure in communities like Ningo Ahweam.
“We believe that access to books, clean water, and proper sanitation are fundamental to a child’s ability to learn, grow, and dream,” the Foundation stated. “This is just the beginning. Ningo Ahweam, we shall be back.”
The Rainbow Trust Foundation expressed its deep appreciation to the Headteacher, staff, and community of Ningo Ahweam for their warm collaboration and support.
Special thanks were extended to all donors, volunteers, and partners who made this project possible.
