Rainbow Trust Foundation and Book Aid International Teacher Librarian Workshop

In line with these beliefs, Explorer Library will provide everything a Primary school needs to create a beautiful, welcoming library space dedicated to reading and learning. Each school will receive;

·     At least 2,500 High-Quality UK-Donated Cambridge Education Primary Books (all new and straight from the original Publishing Houses),

·      200 Local Award-winning Books (so as not to depart from the local content principle)

·     3-Day Teacher-Librarian Training to ensure schools can manage their new libraries, and support pupils, with donations from beneficiary communities to transform an empty space into a child-friendly library.

 The first two selected schools/communities are;

1.      La Anteson RC Primary School Library

2.      La Wireless Cluster of Schools Library

 

Action Taken

After selection of schools, eighteen (18) Teachers were carefully selected and taken through a 3-Day intensive non-residential training on Library management. Two of the training days were held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, La, Accra, and the 3rd day was at the Assembly Hall of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LADMA), under the auspices of the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Municipal Education Director. Snacks and lunch was provided for all participants during the training. At the end of the training, certificates pre-signed by the Chief Executive Officer of Book Aid International (BAI), UK were countersigned by the CEO of RTF, and awarded to Teacher-Trainees.

 

School Refurbishment

At the end, each school library was stocked with At least 2,500 High Quality UK-Donated Cambridge Education Primary Books (all new and straight from the original Publishing Houses), and 200 Local Award-winning Books (so as not to depart from the local content principle).

 Project Launch

At a colourful ceremony on Wednesday December 15, 2021, the two refurbished school libraries were officially launched and handed over from RTF, LADMA, and Municipal Education Office to the two schools. Present at the ceremony was the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Solomon Kotey Nikoi, the Municipal Education Directorate, the management and staff of LaDMA, as well as the CEO & Facilitators of RTF, and the media.
